NEWS FROM OUR LABRADOODLES IN THE WORLD
labradoodle children
Hi Kathy,
I have been meaning to drop you a line to let you know how the pups are getting on and how much we adore them!

They are such lovely dogs and have truly exceeded our expectations. They are growing fast and are so well behaved for pups. They love their walks (we have lots of off leash parks nearby where I can let them romp freely with every confidence in them!) and they have enjoyed trips to the beach and even joined us on our family holiday to Adelaide, where despite my anxiety about driving for 8 hours with the 4 kids and pups, Maggie and Monty were exceptional and could have taught the kids a thing or two about traveling well!

Even my dad who was anxious about two puppies ruining his pristine garden during our week long stay was won over by their beautiful temperaments and impeccable behaviour and the fact his garden survived intact!

The kids all adore them and the pups love playing with the kids and are so patient with them as they can get a little boisterous with them at times!

For us having two has worked out wonderfully. Maggie and Monty seem to get so much enjoyment out of having a playmate around and spend much time chasing each other and tumbling around the garden, or curled up snoozing together!

We have had many compliments on not only what beautiful looking dogs they are but also how obviously well bred they are, so we thank you again for the care you take in breeding your puppies, as they are a real credit to you. (and of course Tala and Mars!).

Thank you also for the information you provided on the submissive urination.

Maggie still occasionally does it but I can pretty much predict when it will happen, and she has improved greatly. I think it will gradually disappear. She has really settled down. Monty is happy to go with the flow at home though interestingly finds new situations frightening (like going to the dogwashers), but Maggie though displaying much more confidence all round seems to really need to know exactly what is what – she is so eager to do the right thing I think it stresses her out a bit sometimes! All in all as you say it is not really a problem and we are no longer finding it so.

So thank you again for our wonderful pups! I attach a couple of pictures of the “pack” and the pups

Kind Regards,

Miranda Lewis

NEWS FROM OUR LABRADOODLES IN THE WORLD

Hi Kathy,

I'm sending you two pictures of Rafael taken a few days ago when he was 16 weeks.

He is an absolute honey, and we all love him to bits. In the second photo our oldest son, Jared (21 yrs) is holding him. We are enrolling him in level 1 obedience training soon. He is still growing like a string bean, and is much taller than our adult miniature doodle now!

Bye for now, Fiona

P.S. Like the "new" look of your website. Particularly enjoyed the section on people who have bought doodles from you.

NEWS FROM OUR LABRADOODLES IN THE WORLD

Hi Kathy.

We have now met Shiva, and she is the most delightfull pup we have ever met.

She was delayed 1½ hours, and we were so impatient, because we had been looking so much forward to seing her.

All the paperwork was fine, no problems there.
The lady who brought her to us at SAS cargo, said that when she fetched the box Shiva was sleeping sweetly.

She was wery interested in what was happening around her, but a bit thoughtfull about leaving the box. I picked her up and took her out, and as soon as her feets touched the ground she was wiggeling her tail and bouncing around. The drive home was a bit long.... 1 hour, but she managed just fine...... i think she was bored.

We have been home now for about 1 hour, and she checked out the whole house and the garden several times.
We gave her a bit to eat, as you wrote we should do, and she ate a bit, but everything here was so new to her that she couldn't focus on eating.
But i stayed by her side, and then she could relax and eat up.
She had a dump and a wee in the garden just now.

She is just so wonderful, I simply can't descibe how happy we are to have here.
Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to get to know her.

I will send you some pictures in a weeks time.

Thank you again!

Stina & Stephan.

NEWS FROM OUR LABRADOODLES IN THE WORLD

Hi Kathy

I cannot believe it has been four weeks since we got our little boy. Thank you so much, he is the most beautiful puppy. I have to say we picked the right name for him “Sunny”. He has the most gorgeous temperament. He is patient with the kids and knows when to be cheeky and when to keep quite. He has been extremely easy to train, even my six year old can give commands that Sunny will follow. House training was easier than I thought it would be, the first week I thought I would go insane then all of a sudden I realized I wasn’t cleaning up as much as I had been.

Everyone that has met him has fallen in love with him (even the dog hating lady down the street). He is a little charmer. We are off to the vet on Monday for his 12 week shots so I hope he charms the vet as well.

Once again thank you for our beautiful little boy.

Virginia, Greg, Rachel and Nick.

NEWS FROM OUR LABRADOODLES IN THE WORLD
Kathy is a breeder
who truly understands how a dog can change a family, and, as a result, takes great care and pride on matching people to their labradoodle.

In the fall of 2005
we began to look in earnest for a dog. The main reason, though not the only reason, was to find a companion for our special needs daughter, Jessica.

It became very important
to get a puppy that would have all the great traits; intelligent, adorable, obedient, non-shedding, cuddly….and so on. After much research, searching in New England, and many internet contacts we had several conversations with Kathy and agreed upon a dog from an October litter.

Excitement in the house
was growing by the day. Then in late November Kathy called us and explained that the dog we had picked was shedding.

It had been a small litter
and no other dog was available. The only dog remaining was the one Kathy had picked to keep for future breeding.

I think during that conversation

I became completely convinced of how totally Kathy loved her work. The sadness and empathy for my daughter truly came through the phone….We explained that we would take a few days and try to figure out how to handle nature’s cruel little twist with my daughter.

A couple of days later
the phone rang again. It was Kathy. “Hi David, I cannot get Jessica’s disappointment out of my head, I want you to take the dog I was keeping. She is a very special little pup and you all will really love her.” It was an act of unselfish generosity.

Well, we are now in the first days
of spring in New England, Sydney is an integral member of our family. She has melted the hearts of each of us, and has lived up to every expectation. When I read the dog training books and see the many chapters on what to do with a certain dog problem, I laugh and give Sydney a rub. I never need those chapters. She has been every new dog owners dream.

Kathy has given a great gift
,
and done so in a way that convinced us all that to her it was nothing unusual…just what a true dog lover does …I wholeheartedly say that if you want a labradoodle (and you should!) you want to get it from Kathy Young.

NEWS FROM OUR LABRADOODLES IN THE WORLD
We recently purchased a Labradoodle (Archie) from Kathy at Cloudcatchers Labradoodles in Australia. Archie is now a fun and feisty, not to mention handsome, 4 month old pup. We live in Houston, Texas so getting him all the way from Australia was a huge deal.

We already had an almost 4 year old black Labradoodle which we bought in England when we lived there so we started some painstaking research by Internet to find exactly what we wanted.

I had numerous e mails with various breeders in the US and coat, colour, timing and sex were all part of the big picture.

I had plenty of information about the ‘parents’, pre planning information for our new arrival – a very helpful reminder since it seemed so long since Daisy had joined us and plenty of detail on the shipping and handling of Archie between Australia and the US.

I was always happy with Kathy’s prompt responses, her explanations and of course just looking and reading about her breeding program was proof enough for us to ‘pre-book’ a puppy from her.

I would not hesitate to recommend Cloudatchers Labradoodles to anyone interested in a very high quality Labradoodle. It has been our pleasure to have been involved with such a dedicated and loving breeder. Yours truly, Avril and Kevin Schofield Avril Schofield happy64@houston.rr.com
Archie was very well looked after by Dogtainers en route and they called us several times to let us know everything was going smoothly. Kathy also called to check on his well being once he got to us.
Archie has been a delight to us so far (I’d have to ask Daisy her opinion as she is certainly getting the run around at the minute!). He is happy and healthy with a beautiful coat and sunny disposition. He seems to have settled in well and is now enrolled in Puppy School.

  Hi Nicole,
I recently received your name
from Kathy Young at Cloudcatcher. She knows we are strongly considering the current Dixie x Cinnabar litter and thought that you, having a pup from a previous litter, might be able to assist us. We've already decided to go with Cloudcatcher, so this isn't so much about Kathy as it is about the dogs themselves.

In short, I'm trying decide upon the litter.
Having said this, what can you tell me about your dog . . . the good, the bad and the ugly.

Any information you can offer would be greatly appreciated! And, thanks so much in advance for taking my "pop quiz" about your dog. :D

Sincerely,
Katrina Derrick

Hi Katrina,

Our puppy Barry, is now 5 and a half months old. He had his first haircut 3 weeks ago as we're heading into colder weather and I was worried about his puppy fur being matted with his curls growing through.
So I had the "fluffy/frizzy" cut out to reveal just curl for easier keeping.
So far I haven't experienced matting yet as I feel I've avoided
this with his haircut.
What qualities do you like about him?

- We love his size. He's not this small yappy dog my husband refers to as "Slippers"
His colour is beautiful. Dixie and Cinnabar's litter are a little darker and that was my preference. Unfortunately Dakota and Cinnabar's litter was
lighter and I requested the darkest of the litter at the time.

- He has a great temperament with the kids.

- He's been easy to train.

- People are taken by him immediately and he relishes in the attention
What qualities would you like to change?

- He can be naughty sometimes i.e.digging, has had a go at trying to take clothes hanging too low on the line, jumps up at you for a cuddle without being commanded, he can barge through you after you've opened the door to let him in.

Do you think it is possible to change those things?

- All of these 'bad' qualities have eased as they are typical of puppy behaviour. However, you are the boss and it's up to you to put in the time to train him as you'll definitely reap the rewards in the next 15 years to come.

- Barry and I will be going to obedience classes to further his qualities. He attended puppy school from 12 weeks of age, once a week for 4 weeks. He socialised with other puppies and learnt to sit, drop and walk on a lead. Since this time, the good and bad qualities have become apparent and with this information, Barry and I will be ready to rectify his 'problems' at obedience school.

Do you happen to know how he is with other small animals?

- So far he has socialised with 'Slipper" sized dogs, large dogs and rabbits (caged). He's been very inquisitive, playful, but gentle.

What sort of health issues might I want to be aware of?
(i.e. ears, matting, etc . . . )

- Definitely the ears. You must be diligent about cleaning the ears. They're quite deep canals and can build up with the wax. Whilst having him cut, I also had them pull out the hair in his ears. I tried myself, but he was too sensitive and yelped alot, so I had the groomers do it. They notified me he had Canker which I missed because of the deep canals. I used drops to clear it up and I'm more aware of it now.

If you could only use five words to describe him with, which would you choose? Why?

- Lovable - Sociable - Playful - Beautiful - Loyal - Forever Lovable
- His big brown eyes are to die for. He just melts you with his look. Anyone who meets him wants to cuddle him and they walk away in love with him.

Sociable
- Easily loved by anyone in his path. Fantastic with new people (could be too overwhelming for non dog people and will comply with command to ease off until that person warms to him). Great with other dogs. Can be exausting to them with his puppy energy.

Playful
- Is up for a walk at anytime. He has a slipper fetish, so all the old slippers in the house are his and everything that is thrown, boomerangs back. Loves a squeaky toy (not at first, when he first bit down on one, it was a shock to him, but he soon got used to it). I'll often hear him in the backyard playing on his own with one, tossing the toy from side to side and then chasing after it, squeaking, squeaking, squeaking!

Beautiful
- Gorgeous looking. His curls are so tight, you can't stop stroking them. And guess what? No moulting! No hair in the house or left floating in the air. I can breathe easy.

Loyal
- He'll come to a whistle or a clap. The kids are able to make him sit and drop. Loves a cuddle. Is easily cuddled. I've been his "boss" from the beginning and he'll choose to come to me over anyone, which is a good thing. If he runs off and I call him, he'll return as soon as he hears.

Forever
- At this moment in time he is one of the children. He goes
wherever we go. A child is forever and during their childhood, a dog is their life, their companion, their "brother". We'll love him forever. He is our FOREVER!
If you were in my position making this decision again, what would you decide?

- We would get two if we did it again (if we could afford it).  Twice the love, social life, play, beauty, loyalty and foreverness!

Gee's Katrina,

I knew this would be a marathon email, that's why it took me a day to compile it. It's been very exhausting. But, you know what?
Thank you for reminding me why I chose this wonderful breed, from this wonderful lady at Cloud Catcher.

Barry is our everything and I don't regret a thing. He's been like a first love, so yummy, can't get enough of him, can't stop talking about or thinking of him.

I'm sorry I'm unable to send you a photo as we don't have a camera. But I wish we did, as I'd love to show him off, like a new born. But hopefully my reply paints a picture in your mind of him. He's a real colourful character. Please feel free to ask me anything. You would be making the right choice if you chose this breed. They're a 'forever dog'!

Kind regards,
Nicole xxx
